Boulder, CO and Zichron Yaakov, Israel – January 16, 2025 – FetalEase, a clinical-stage medical device start-up company that is commercializing the Yaari Extractor obstetric device, has announced that it has received additional SAFE funding that will enable the company to continue its ongoing IDE clinical study, which is currently running at three US hospitals. This latest funding comes from She’s Independent Investments, a member-led, angel investment group based in Boulder, Colorado, that aims to bring more women into the funding ecosystem and to support more women-focused startups.
The FetalEase Yaari Extractor is a simple mechanical device for resolving shoulder dystocia, an obstetric emergency that occurs in approximately 3% of vaginal births. Currently, no device is available for treating such births and birth practitioners resort to using a series of manual maneuvers which can result in maternal injury, neonatal injury, permanent disability, and death, and which are the most common cause of obstetric brachial plexus injury (OBPI), a serious nerve injury that can occur during childbirth.
“We are honored to have the support of She’s Independent Investments as an investor in our company,” said Aaron Feldman, Co-Founder and CEO of FetalEase. “Their support goes beyond capital—it’s a collaboration rooted in shared values and a vision for better healthcare solutions for women.”
She’s Independent’s investment in FetalEase underscores its ongoing dedication to using tools, education, and mentorship to make investing work better for more people and change power dynamics to create a more equitable, empowered future for women.
"Aaron pitched to our group from a bomb shelter north of Tel Aviv, setting a tone of resilience,” said Deboleena Dutta, Founder of Viora Health and She's Independent Investment member. “From screening to due diligence and final investment, the team demonstrated a focused go-to-market execution, onboarding top executives and partners to bolster a path for FDA clearance and future investment, growth, and acquisition. We are proud to support them on the path to making childbirth safer for both women and babies.”
The She’s Independent investment is part of a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) that includes the participation of family offices and industry experts as well as several OB/GYNs as angel investors. The round represents investments from 10 women She’s Independent investors.
